Flexible, reliable choice for modern web development

Symfony is a popular and powerful open-source framework for web development, trusted by enterprises and small and medium-sized companies around the world. Its comprehensive set of features, combined with its flexibility and reliability, make it an ideal choice for building scalable, high-performance applications.

Symfony is a modern PHP framework for state-of-the art web application development. It focuses on medium to large scale applications. SensioLabs, the company behind the framework exists since 20 years, the framework itself since 15 years - however, it is not old fashioned at all. Quite the contraray: Symfony is pushing the whole PHP ecosystem forward and was a major contributor into modernizing the ecosystem and making PHP more than relevant for web projects of today and tomorrow. It has more than 50 components, from low-level libraries to high-level UX components like email notifications and charting libraries. Over 500 people contribute to the Symfony sourceode in 2020, more than to any other framework. This makes Symfony a well-tested, highly flexible and efficient choice.

Many other PHP projects rely on Symfony components, such as Laravel and Drupal. The European Commission (part of EU) supports the project by contributing open-source and providing funds.

Symfony leverages the latest PHP features, such as Preloading, which dramatically improves the performance for users. In fact, Symfony even provides Polyfills for functionalities that have been added to PHP but are not supported by older versions. This helps developers that are dependent on a legacy version to use the modern language features.

Every year, there are multiple Symfony conferences around the globe that brings together thousands of developers not only from Symfony, but the while PHP ecosystem. Creating one sense of community and driving the development and adoption of the framework.e
