AI for Mid-Sized Businesses

Custom software was expensive because every line was written by hand. A sales application, a supplier portal, a report across three data sources – those were projects for corporations with six-figure budgets. Mid-sized companies lived with off-the-shelf software and filled the gaps with Excel.

That is over. AI tools now handle the routine part of programming: interfaces, forms, reports, tests. What remains is the work that matters – understanding what your business needs, the architecture, the security, the review. That is the work we have been doing for more than ten years.

How much faster it is depends on the project. For standard building blocks it is a multiple; for tricky business logic it is less. So we do not give you a multiple before we start. We give you a fixed price.

Our clients have between 20 and 250 employees, an IT landscape that has grown over the years, and no development department of their own. Typical starting points:

• A trading company with an ERP, an online shop and a warehouse, where stock levels are maintained three times.
• A service firm whose projects live in Excel sheets nobody can consolidate any more.
• A manufacturer whose machines produce data that nobody reads.
• A management team that has had "something with AI" on its list for a year – and nobody knows where to start.

We are based in Hamburg and work with companies across the metropolitan region and northern Germany. On site when it helps, remote when it is enough.

We do not bill by the hour. Every engagement starts with an opportunity assessment at a fixed price, which ends with one concrete use case and one metric. Then we build a pilot that is measured against that metric – not against a demo. Only when the pilot holds up do we scale it.

What runs, we also operate: hosting, monitoring, updates, and training for the people who work with it. You do not have to hire anyone.

Data protection and legal uncertainty are the most common reasons AI projects in mid-sized companies stall. We build both into the architecture from the start: language models run where your data is allowed to be – in European data centres, or on your own hardware if you prefer. Personal data leaves your systems only when there is a reason and a legal basis.

For the EU AI Act we document every system so you can show its classification, its data sources and the human oversight. For most applications in mid-sized companies that is little effort – as long as it is not done after the fact.
