In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, an international corporation faced a major operational challenge: how to manage limited office and parking capacity while complying with changing safety regulations across multiple countries. What was needed was not just a booking tool, but a system that could support safe office access, location-specific rules, and coordinated workplace planning at scale.

That is where re:turn came in — a workplace booking application we designed and rolled out in just three weeks. Built for speed, flexibility, and usability, the solution gave employees a simple way to reserve desks, rooms, and parking spaces, while giving administrators full control over capacity, workplace setup, permissions, and communications. What started as a rapid response to an urgent situation became a structured system for daily workplace operations.

The Challenge

Office planning had become dynamic, regulated and location-dependent. Fixed seating plans, informal coordination and manual scheduling were no longer enough when office capacity could change by country, building, floor or room.

Employees needed to know which desks, rooms and parking spaces were available before coming in. Administrators needed to keep bookings within safe capacity limits, apply local rules, manage permissions and communicate updates without relying on scattered messages, spreadsheets or manual checks.

The Solution

re:turn is a configurable workplace booking platform for desks, rooms and parking. Employees can reserve spaces through a simple web or mobile flow, while administrators define how each location is structured and how bookings are allowed.

The system models campuses, buildings, floors, rooms, desks and parking areas. Booking policies can be configured per context, including capacity limits, advance booking windows, notice periods, allowed booking days, access restrictions and delegation rules.

Because the application was built as a multi-tenant cloud platform, different countries and organizational units could operate with their own rules and responsibilities while still using one shared technical foundation.
